What the programme covers

The programme is built around the gaps newcomers tell us about: how Canadian banking, credit and tax systems work; the account types and acronyms that confuse many newcomers, such as RRSP, TFSA and RESP; and how supporting family back home fits into your own financial plan.

Your lecturer

Alex Ahabwe is a Ugandan-Canadian entrepreneur, former international banker, financial literacy educator, author and community leader based in Toronto. He is a Certified Financial Literacy Trainer accredited by the Bank of Uganda, with banking experience in Uganda and Canada, including Opportunity Bank Uganda, TD Canada Trust and Royal Bank of Canada. He is the founder of Money Wing.

What the programme is, and is not

The programme teaches Canadian-context financial literacy. It does not provide personalised financial advice. We encourage participants to speak to an independent financial planner about their own circumstances.
